Conflation & Throttling

Conflation and throttling can be used simultaneously.

It is recommended that conflation is used when throttling is enabled.

The reason for this is that when outbound client messages are being artificially restricted this can increase the length of the outbound client queue. Without conflation this queue is more likely to contain stale data. Another side effect could be that the maximum depth of the queue could be reached, this would result in slow clients being disconnected.

By enabling conflation, up-to-date messages would replace the stale messages for the particular topic in the queue, rather than being added to the end. This would reduce the length of the outbound queue and minimize the likelihood of stale data being present.
